LOCATION
Tsoutsouros
Tsoutsouros is located 63km south of the city of Heraklion, it is built on the site that was built and the ancient city of Inatos, which was a port of Prinos. In fact, the two united settlements of Pera Tsoutsourou and Tsoutsourou are a single seaside settlement, which today is the port of the inhabitants of Arkalohori. The area is very well organized and well developed, but it is a destination for a very quiet holiday. In front of the village there is the small harbor of the area. To the east and west of the harbor are two large leeward bays with a total length of 2km, which have lovely thick sand and crystal clear sea. It is ideal as there are all the necessary amenities for accommodation, entertainment and nutrition. You can also use Tsoutsoura as a base for excursions to other beaches around. Swimming in Toutsouros is considered healing and therapeutic by many Cretans, due to its high salt content and iodine content. Several doctors suggest swimming in Tsoutsoura for those with musculoskeletal and orthopedic problems. An ancient Inato worshiped Elythethia, the goddess of childbirth. You can visit the cave that the goddess worshiped for many centuries. In the cave, located to the north of the village, there have been many worshipful dedications of the faithful to the goddess, such as bronze and earthen figurines of men, pregnant women and erotic complexes, jewels, earthenware doubles, clay ship dots, and Egyptian figurines of faience.
