Lendas
Lendas is a picturesque seaside settlement, located 74 kilometers south of Heraklion, south of the Vigla peak of the imposing Asterousia mountains with many wind turbines. The name of Lentas may be derived from the Greek word Léton (in English, "lion"). It refers to the cape formed by the lion that creates the small protected bay of Lentas. It is a tourist resort with a small harbor, very mild, offering possibilities for very peaceful moments of charm. Access is via an asphalt road passing through the villages of Mimos and Krotos, on a route that offers stunning views of the South Cretan Sea and the banks of Lendas. The surrounding area is full of quiet beaches. The beach in front of the settlement of Lendas is protected from the east by Cape Psamidomouri and westwards from Cape Lion or Kefalas, which is an important archaeological site. It is the busiest beach in the area and well organized, as basic services such as umbrellas, showers, sun loungers and water sports are offered. There are also many taverns and guest rooms next to it. Its trademark is ducks, which swell upward.
