Kamilari is located in southern Crete, very close to Timpaki, Moires and the coastal villages of Kalamaki and Matala. Kamilari is 4 km from the archeological site in Phaistos and is an ideal location for those who want to explore the beautiful plain of Messara with its traditional villages, its rich history and of course the beautiful bay and beaches in southern Crete. Kamilari is built on the top of three hills and has about 340 permanent residents. It is a quiet, traditional village with panoramic views of the olive groves of the Messara plain, the peaks of Psiloritis and the Libyan Sea. Kamilari may not be bathed by the sea, but it is not far from the beaches of Matala, Kommos and Kalamaki. This small disadvantage is offset by the strongly traditional character with its beautiful houses, picturesque alleys and unique views. The village is very picturesque and beautiful, with all the characteristics of a typical Cretan village, with its small central square, the church and traditional cafes with color and personality, frequented by locals and visitors.
